MegaMasters for Vilanova
September 4th 2009Rolec has designed and supplied the services to the new Vilanova Grand Marina project in Barcelona, Spain.
The marina will accommodate berths up to 80 metres and will be equipped with the Rolec MegaMaster range offering the highest level of utility services to each boat. Designed to be versatile, the MegaMaster unit is available in both aluminium and stainless steel options and will be providing electrical services up to 630 amps three phase throughout Vilanova Grand Marina.
Each berth will also be equipped with multiple water supplies which can allow potable water to be taken on board at the same time as boat or deck maintenance and cleaning is taking place. Each boat’s electrical and water consumption will be monitored and managed by the Rolec BerthMaster system, affording the marina operator complete control and interaction with each boat’s utility services at any given time.
An additional service specifically requested by the marina developer was that each boat owner could be issued with their own micro-chip embedded proximity Smartcard which allows them to switch on or off their own services at any time of the day or night. This option was provided using radio frequency identification (RFID) technology which allows the marina operator to address the Smartcard and tie it to a specific Megamaster unit / berth of their choice. The Smartcard is issued to the boat owner who simply runs the card over a point on the MegaMaster to switch on or off the services. A further option included on the Megamaster unit is the provision of a data screen which allows the boat owner the luxury of being able to view their own electricity and water account at any time of the day or night.
