Rolec Celebrates Coral Anniversary as Electrification Pioneers
2025 is a momentous year for us as we celebrate our 35th anniversary. Happy birthday to a company that has powered, sparked, and charged its way through three and a half decades of innovation, ingenuity, and inspiration.
When Rolec first appeared on the scene in 1990, established by a founder with a passion for innovation and green technology, little did we know we’d be immersed in a world of imagination and invention. It’s fascinating to see how our early engineering leaps now reflect so much of the unique industries we work in, from marinas to caravan parks and EV infrastructure.
Join us on a journey through our tale of evolution and growth, from humble beginnings to a full-on level up. Naturally, we racked up plenty of firsts in our early years, and we quickly learned, grew, and established ourselves as a market leading manufacturer of outdoor electrical equipment.
Our products can be seen far and wide across the UK and the globe: Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Russia, Taiwan, Croatia, France, Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Greece, and beyond. We’ve had the pleasure of working with some big names along the way: Boatfolk, Aquavista, Tingdene Group, Parkdean Resorts, Centre Parcs, Mercedes Benz, Microsoft, Volvo, NHS, DHL, MG, UPS, Port Adriano, Porto Heli Marina, Limassol Marina, Palm Jumeirah, Yas Marina, West Dorset Holiday Parks, Skanska, Balfour Beatty, Bellway, Taylor Wimpey… to name a few!
Over the years, this has amounted to the supply of over 176,500 marina pedestals, more than 305,000 caravan hook-ups, and over 390,000 EV chargepoints.
Through it all, we research, develop, strategise, innovate, revolutionise, educate, train, and support. We’ve evolved from the ground up to first movers, with our commitment extending beyond hardware. Along the way, we’ve never lost sight of what matters most – the people and industries we serve.
2025 has been one of our biggest and most impactful years yet, bringing progress, new products, enhanced products, efficiency gains, increased sustainable operations and ESG, team expansion, strong partnerships, and profitability. Achieving all of this in today’s ever-changing and challenging market is no small feat.

From modest foundations to over 1.3 million outlets installed worldwide – the mission continues. Here are some of the key milestones that shaped our story and why we do it all.
1990s: Making it Official, Early Momentum
1990: Rolec founded – introduces the UK’s first purpose designed utility pedestal for the leisure industry.
1992: First export order to Carteret, France.
1993: First major caravan park installation job won at Skelwith Fold Caravan Park Cumbria.
1994: First £1M marina project – Elizabeth Harbour, Jersey. First marina installation from British Waterways at Limehouse Basin, London.
1995: Introduces BerthMaster, the world’s first electricity/water computer management system to the marina industry.
2000s: EV Market Entry, Innovation
2000: Introduction of LED lighting to the marina and leisure industries, the start of energy saving initiatives.
2007: Introduction of the WallPod, Rolec's first electric vehicle charging unit to the EV market.
2010: Relocation to a custom-built facility in Lincolnshire, enabling increased production capacity and innovation.
2013: Introduction of BasicCharge and AutoCharge, expanding Rolec's EV charging product range.
2014: Launch of a custom-built electrical contractor Training Academy to educated and support our growing network of installers.
2015: Develops and launches the world’s first mobile phone operated management and payment platform for the marina industry.
2017: Installation of over 100 chargepoints for UPS, enhancing their fleet's EV infrastructure, revolutionising green fleet management.
2018: Launch of DC rapid and ultrarapid chargers, further advancing Rolec's EV charging technology.
2019: Partnership with MG for dealership and domestic charger installations.
2019: Supply of over 70 chargepoints to one of the UK's largest electric bus depots.
2020s: Recognition, Global Expansion
2021: Acquisition by Sdiptech, enabling further growth and innovation.
2021: Rolec wins £1.6M rapid charger rollout for one of the UK’s largest electricity distribution network operators.
2021: Rollout of EV charging solutions for Saint Gobain, King & Moffat, and NG Bailey.
2022: Establishment of an in-house R&D centre in Nottingham.
2022: 15 years in the EV industry, marking a significant milestone.
2023: Partnership with Monta to install 20,000 UK chargepoints.
2023: All packaging across our three divisions becomes 100% recyclable.
2023: Recognition with the UK Packaging Award for Best Packaging of a New Product and the Electrical Contracting News (ECN) Award.
2023: Recognition with the Special Achievement Award, Special ESG Achievement Award and Great Performer Award at Sdiptech awards.
2024: Partnerships with Eplucon, a leading Dutch energy solutions provider, and Virta (Helsinki) and Spirri (Denmark), global software companies.
2024: Partnership with Adlington Retirement Living to provide over 200 EV chargers for homeowners in the UK.
2024: Partnership with Costelloes to deliver Wrexham County Borough Council's electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
2024: Exclusive EV charging partnership with Peterborough College to support their £13.5 million Centre for Green Technology.
2024: Trained over 1,000 electrical contractors across the country.
2024: Contactless payment launch across our AC & DC ranges, supporting the latest UK government regulations.
2025: Advancing R&D, People, Progress
Launch of new stainless steel marina range and DC electric boat solutions.
Launch of new utility management system in partnership with Metpow, projects rolled out across leisure parks and marinas in the UK.
Launch of RolecConnect, a free all-in-one software service designed to support installers with chargepoint, caravan hook-up, and marina service installations.
Achieved ISO 14001:2015 certification, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability.
Achieved milestones of 30M kWh consumed and over 2M charges via Monta.
Recognition as EV Charging Company of the Year by Company Car & Van.
New and improved EV products: EVO, HEX, BasicCharge, SecuriCharge, Quantum.
Launch of new UltraCharge DC range in partnership with EVbee.
Launch of new UltraCharge 800 Distributed solution, delivering up to 1.6MW.
Roll out of EV solutions for NHS fleets across East of England and Greater Manchester.
Multi-million pound funding partnership with Connekt, set to transform the UK’s destination charging landscape.
