GREATER MANCHESTER MENTAL HEALTH NHS FOUNDATION TRUST
With a focus on care at its core, Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is responsible for providing essential mental health services to over 1.2 million people across the region. But their commitment goes beyond clinical care, they’re also driving forward sustainability. Eighteen months ago, GMMH NHS Foundation Trust began the journey to electrify its fleet in line with the 2030 net zero target. But the NHS didn’t just want to meet the deadline, they wanted to beat it.
SCOPE
Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust required a comprehensive EV charging solution to support their transition to an electric fleet. The set up needed to accommodate both fleet charging and charging for staff and visitors across multiple locations.
SOLUTION
Working alongside Stockport Electrical, we installed 38 chargepoints, using a combination of Rolec Quantum and BasicCharge 7.4kW units, selected to best suit the site’s layout and EV drivers. A mix of public and private charging was achieved via a flexible back-office system, ensuring simple and secure access and smart management for all user types.
BENEFIT
This robust, future-ready solution supports the Trust’s ambitious sustainability targets while delivering tangible benefits across the board, including a 96% electrified fleet supported with reliable EV infrastructure, accessible charging for staff and visitors, seamless user management via a smart back-office system, and bespoke branded chargers enhancing professional presence on-site.
“Stockport Electrical, a Rolec Approved Installer, were fantastic throughout the installation, always responsive to our needs. We made sure to maximise the yard by installing the charging points in the ideal locations; two quad chargers and several dual chargers spread out across the site, ensuring room for our different vehicles. Everything runs smoothly with the network, and the chargers are really easy to use. Our team simply plug in and we continue our service as we do with petrol or diesel vehicles.” - Chris Oldland, NHS Greater Manchester Deputy Logics Manager
