  • Rolec chosen as Saint Gobain’s chargepoint partner for the roll out of 4,500 EV charging points

NEWS EV Charging Rolec chosen as Saint Gobain’s chargepoint partner for the roll out of 4,500 EV charging points 12 December 2023 at 11:07:23 SAINT-GOBAIN UK & IRELAND, one of the UK’s largest manufacturers and distributors of building solutions has signed a new partnership with ROLEC , one of the UK’s leading charging manufacturers, to support the delivery of a 1,000 charger point network across Saint-Gobain’s sites, offices and retail branches over the next 5 years. The agreement comes on top of Saint-Gobain’s recent commitment to move all of its 3,200 company cars to fully electric by the end of 2023, investments in new Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil [HVO] HGV’s, which will reduce CO2 per mile by around a quarter for its British Gypsum, Artex and some distribution brands and the roll out of electric Mechanical Handling Equipment. The 1,000 charging point network is in addition to Saint-Gobain’s commitment to install an electric car charging point fitted at 3,200 company car drivers’ homes where they are able to accommodate a charging point. Over the next five years Saint-Gobain expect these changes to remove 11,000 tonnes of CO2 from their activity. “Our purpose is Making the World a Better Home and reducing our carbon footprint is integral to this. We are committed to be net zero carbon by 2050 and meet additional science based targets by 2030 so it’s essential we act quickly where we can and accelerate the actions we’re taking to reduce the carbon footprint of our transportation and reduce the impact on the planet from our colleagues who need to drive for work”, said Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland CEO, MIKE CHALDECOTT. The 1,000 charging point network will allow colleagues and visitors to recharge whilst on-site with brands such as Jewson, British Gypsum, Gibbs & Dandy, Minster and all Saint-Gobain office locations. All Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland brands will benefit from chargers being installed; 500 of the 1,000 locations will be at Jewson branches. Roll-out of the charging point network is already underway with 750 expected to be installed each year for the next 5 years. Saint-Gobain will also be using Rolec’s charger management system, VendElectric, which will allow the business to control and manage the charging network and allow it to assess usage and enable colleagues and visitors to find information on real-time charger availability. Saint-Gobain will also be using Rolec’s charger management system, VendElectric, which will allow the business to control and manage the charging network and allow it to assess usage and enable colleagues and visitors to find information on real-time charger availability. Mike Chaldecott added: “Having an extensive charging network, for colleagues and visitors, is essential to making the rapid transition to electric cars as easy as possible for people. From the end of 2023 we want colleagues travelling in a company vehicle or on company business to do that in an ultra-low emission electric or hybrid car and over the next five years, with the help of this new partnership we’ll be installing more than 4,000 charging locations country wide – 1,000 of them on our sites for colleagues and visitors. Taking action like this will help us make the change happen as quickly as possible and we’re very pleased with this small but important step to help make the world a better home.” Jake Hudson , Business Development Manager at Rolec, said: “We are looking forward to working with Saint-Gobain and its brands to provide their locations with electric vehicle charging solutions, suited to their individual requirements. Knowing that businesses like Saint-Gobain are making sustainable commitments for the future of transport is encouraging for the UK’s wider environmental/climate plans; we are delighted to be a part of Saint Gobain’s electric journey for now and for the future.” PREVIOUS NEXT Related Posts Lake District National Park installs charging infrastructure across its sites to support their electrification plans Mercedes-Benz South West and Rolec partnership supports the acceleration of EV adoption in the UK Rolec supports Willmott Dixon’s fleet electrification plans

  • A partnership fit for the future of EV chargepoint installers & contractors

NEWS EV Charging A partnership fit for the future of EV chargepoint installers & contractors 12 December 2023 at 11:07:21 Rolec, Universal Skills Group and NAPIT now offer a complete training solution to upskill future EV chargepoint installers. It goes without saying that the future is looking electrifying for the EV industry and alike, particularly for electricians who are seeking to diversify their offering to their customers. Although the overall vehicle industry experienced a significant downfall in registrations in September 2021, for electric vehicles, the month was its best yet. With just under 33,000 electric vehicles registered, equating to 15.2% of the overall vehicle market share, it’s without a doubt fair to say that the UK is experiencing a significant surge of interest in the adoption of electric vehicles. Doubts were expressed during the infancy of the ‘EV revolution,’ but now, we have never been so sure that electric vehicles are indeed the future. Leading the charge with unparalleled training The ever-growing electric vehicle charging landscape has provided thousands of electrical installers and contractors a wealth of opportunities, from domestic installations, to commercial installations. As more and more drivers make the transition to driving an electric vehicle and businesses begin to deploy electric vehicle charging infrastructures across their premises, now is the perfect time to introduce electric vehicle chargepoint installations to your portfolio. Universal Skills Group, one of the leading training providers, complete with a state-of-the-art training facility, continues to lead the charge by offering future electric vehicle chargepoint installers with a complete training journey. Training electricians using Rolec’s vast range of charging products, future chargepoint installers can benefit from first-hand experience on how to install domestic and commercial charging points, whilst also learning about smart back office management systems, OCPP compliant solutions and much more. There are a number of financial incentives in place for electric vehicle drivers, one of them being the Office for Zero Emissions (OZEV) grant funding programmes; allowing EV drivers and businesses to benefit from cost savings towards the purchase and installation of their chosen electric vehicle charging points. When enrolling on a course with Universal Skills Group , electrical installers will learn about the different types of OZEV grant funding available (Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme and Workplace Charging Scheme), whilst also getting to know what OZEV grant funded solutions Rolec has to offer. Once completing Universal Skills Group’s electric vehicle charging course, installers can join the OZEV register of approved installers, enabling them to claim the grants for future electric vehicle chargepoint installations. Electrical installers who complete the course will also be welcomed to join Rolec’s dedicated product training webinar, providing them with a thorough understanding of Rolec’s range of AC fast and DC rapid charging solutions, including their smart back office management solutions. From one of the UK’s best-selling domestic charging points (WallPod:EV HomeSmart) to the Delta UFC 200 rapid charging station, all will be covered in the comprehensive product training webinar. Organisations wishing to claim the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Grant (EVHS) or Workplace Charging Grant (WCS) must be authorised by OZEV before any chargepoints are installed. In order to become OZEV registered installers must provide proof of registration to a Competent Person Scheme (CPS). CPS membership with NAPIT will allow you to self-certificate EV Charge points and other notifiable domestic electrical work under Part P of the Building Regulations for England and Wales and includes a host of other additional benefits such as a free technical helpline, discounted insurance and certification software, NAPIT FastTest amongst much more. • 3 reasons why your marina will benefit from EV charging.

BLOG Marina Services 3 reasons why your marina will benefit from EV charging. 12 December 2023 at 11:07:54 The future of transport is changing at a speed like never before, drivers are now opting for cleaner and greener modes of transport, with many choosing to drive an electric vehicle (EV). This is a worldwide phenomenon with EV uptake occurring on a daily basis, meaning that drivers require the facilities to recharge their vehicles in public spaces. Rolec design, manufacture and install a vast range of EV charging points, suitable for all locations, allowing EV drivers to recharge their vehicles with ease and excellence. Here are three reasons why offering EV charging to your visitors could be the best decision you’ve made… Additional Revenue Stream With Rolec’s state-of-the-art back office management system, EV Charge.Online, marina operators are able to control and manage user tariffs to suit each business requirement. Marina managers and operators are therefore capable of generating further income from offering EV charging as an additional service. EV Charge.Online also allows marina operators to adjust their tariffs to accommodate busy periods; for example, marinas could charge their visitors more for recharging during bank holidays, evenings and or weekends. Numerous marinas have noticed a return on investment within months of installing Rolec’s EV charging points at their destinations and continue to generate further income as the demand for electric vehicles increases. Visitor Retention Those who drive an electric vehicle are known to be conscious about whether a destination offers EV charging or not. If a destination does offer the facilities to recharge electric vehicles, EV drivers are more likely to visit that destination as opposed to destinations that do not offer EV charging. Offering your visitors the ability to recharge their vehicles is an effective method of maintaining visitors and creating a loyal customer base. If your EV driving visitors can recharge their electric vehicles at your destination, expect them to return! Green Credentials Almost every business around the world looks to create a better environment for the future and many are joining the EV revolution by either adopting a fleet of electric vehicles or implementing EV charging infrastructure across their outdoor settings. By deploying EV charging points at your marina or waterfront destination positions your business at the forefront of its industry in being advocates of a better environment. Whilst doing this, situating EV charging points at your destination can also encourage employees and non-EV driving visitors to adopt an electric vehicle for a cleaner and green environment. Simply put, installing EV charging points at your marina indicates that you are doing your part and have a commitment to ensuring a greater environment for the future of the planet.
