Home Site Structure Support Site Structure My charging cable is stuck? Product Support My charging cable is stuck? Chargers often include a cable/plug locking feature (often referred to as a Hatch Lock) to prevent cable theft. The lock is automatically engaged when a charging session starts and is disengaged when the session is terminated. Attempts to forcibly remove a locked plug may damage the locking pin within the charging unit. Make sure the charging session has stopped. The lock is engaged when a charge session is active. Make sure the vehicle is unlocked. Unlocking the vehicle may signal the cable lock in the charge point to release. Check the vehicle to make sure it’s not preventing the cable from being removed. Some vehicles have a cable locking/unlocking function using a physical or on-screen button. Remove the plug from the vehicle. Disconnection of the cable from the vehicle stops communication between the vehicle and the charger and this may release the cable lock. Make sure the plug is pushed fully into the charging unit and then carefully try to remove it. The charging lock uses a pin that engages with the plug. Obstruction of the pin may prevent it from disengaging. Pushing the plug fully into the charging may provide free movement for the pin to be released. Check if your charging app has locked your cable. It is a common feature within charging apps to ‘permanently’ lock the cable in place for anti-theft purposes. For further assistance please contact us via our online chat service. This is available Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm GMT and is the fastest way to access support. • A partnership fit for the future of EV chargepoint installers & contractors

NEWS EV Charging A partnership fit for the future of EV chargepoint installers & contractors 12 December 2023 at 11:07:21 Rolec, Universal Skills Group and NAPIT now offer a complete training solution to upskill future EV chargepoint installers. It goes without saying that the future is looking electrifying for the EV industry and alike, particularly for electricians who are seeking to diversify their offering to their customers. Although the overall vehicle industry experienced a significant downfall in registrations in September 2021, for electric vehicles, the month was its best yet. With just under 33,000 electric vehicles registered, equating to 15.2% of the overall vehicle market share, it’s without a doubt fair to say that the UK is experiencing a significant surge of interest in the adoption of electric vehicles. Doubts were expressed during the infancy of the ‘EV revolution,’ but now, we have never been so sure that electric vehicles are indeed the future. Leading the charge with unparalleled training The ever-growing electric vehicle charging landscape has provided thousands of electrical installers and contractors a wealth of opportunities, from domestic installations, to commercial installations. As more and more drivers make the transition to driving an electric vehicle and businesses begin to deploy electric vehicle charging infrastructures across their premises, now is the perfect time to introduce electric vehicle chargepoint installations to your portfolio. Universal Skills Group, one of the leading training providers, complete with a state-of-the-art training facility, continues to lead the charge by offering future electric vehicle chargepoint installers with a complete training journey. Training electricians using Rolec’s vast range of charging products, future chargepoint installers can benefit from first-hand experience on how to install domestic and commercial charging points, whilst also learning about smart back office management systems, OCPP compliant solutions and much more. There are a number of financial incentives in place for electric vehicle drivers, one of them being the Office for Zero Emissions (OZEV) grant funding programmes; allowing EV drivers and businesses to benefit from cost savings towards the purchase and installation of their chosen electric vehicle charging points. When enrolling on a course with Universal Skills Group , electrical installers will learn about the different types of OZEV grant funding available (Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme and Workplace Charging Scheme), whilst also getting to know what OZEV grant funded solutions Rolec has to offer. Once completing Universal Skills Group’s electric vehicle charging course, installers can join the OZEV register of approved installers, enabling them to claim the grants for future electric vehicle chargepoint installations. Electrical installers who complete the course will also be welcomed to join Rolec’s dedicated product training webinar, providing them with a thorough understanding of Rolec’s range of AC fast and DC rapid charging solutions, including their smart back office management solutions. From one of the UK’s best-selling domestic charging points (WallPod:EV HomeSmart) to the Delta UFC 200 rapid charging station, all will be covered in the comprehensive product training webinar. Organisations wishing to claim the Electric Vehicle Homecharge Grant (EVHS) or Workplace Charging Grant (WCS) must be authorised by OZEV before any chargepoints are installed. In order to become OZEV registered installers must provide proof of registration to a Competent Person Scheme (CPS). CPS membership with NAPIT will allow you to self-certificate EV Charge points and other notifiable domestic electrical work under Part P of the Building Regulations for England and Wales and includes a host of other additional benefits such as a free technical helpline, discounted insurance and certification software, NAPIT FastTest amongst much more. • Making it all happen: The R&D team keeping us plugged in to EV innovation.

BLOG EV Charging Making it all happen: The R&D team keeping us plugged in to EV innovation. Chloe Sharp 4 April 2023 at 14:24:01 In January last year, we started enquiring about opening our very own research and development centre in Nottingham University Science Park. Ian Griffiths, Technical Director at Rolec Services, talks about this process. “Given the fast pace of innovation and regulatory change within the EV industry,” developing a dedicated site for renewed growth was paramount and exploring the future of EV in-house “has placed Rolec in a strong position to weather disruptions in global trade, capture the best talent, and react quickly to new market opportunities.” Something that has already proved its value to us tenfold. Specifically with the introduction of the Smart Charge Point regulations in June 2022. As the UK government set out to make charge points more user-friendly and intuitive, the rest of the world was in the midst of a component shortage, impacted in part by the war in Ukraine. Leaving the EV industry bottlenecked. So… whilst everyone was looking globally to find a solution, we stayed closer to home. Taking on the undertaking of designing our own EV Controller and Smart Communications Module and investing in a British manufacturer to help turn these ideas into reality. But let’s take a step back for a minute and really focus on the process, from deciding we want to create our own components to bespoke circuit boards fitted into each and every unit that leaves our factory. Set against a backdrop of “geopolitical movement and global component constraints,” the team began researching (and developing…) a solution. Creating something that would bridge the gap between chargepoint and user. In a nutshell, it means you can communicate with your unit via app, schedule charging for off-peak hours and have full transparency over your energy usage. Communication is then also available between the charge point and your house to facilitate dynamic load balancing, which monitors electricity usage on your home circuit and downgrades accordingly. With this all worked out, all that was left was to turn concept into product. And for this, it was important to us to work with a team that maintained our standards and aligned with our values as British manufacturers. On top of that, they also had to work reflexively with our R&D team and have the capacity to manufacture to meet demand. You could say we were looking for someone who could give us Smart Made Simple… and SMS, “who facilitate rapid prototyping and volume manufacture,” immediately showed up on our radar. We’ve been working with SMS for a year now and ever since it’s been the perfect match. Our R&D team “has worked closely alongside SMS to ensure our new Smart charging technology is designed for manufacture to the highest quality standards.” PREVIOUS NEXT Related Posts The QUBEV just got smarter New Smart Charge Point Regulations A Housing Developer's Guide to the Part S Regulations
