Everything You Need to Know About The Most Affordable EV Charging Solution in the UK BLOG EV Charging Everything You Need to Know About The Most Affordable EV Charging Solution in the UK Chloe Sharp 6 January 2026 at 12:50:07 Residential EV infrastructure has been a huge conversation point the last few years. And the Government’s Part S regulations have only worked to further cement this concept. Making it compulsory for all new build properties (with off-street parking) to provide an EV charge point for future residents. As well as introducing a set of minimum standards for all new charge points. The aim, of course, being to make EVs more accessible and create infrastructure to support the switch to fully electric by 2030. Since the launch of our QUBEV domestic EV charging unit in 2019, the technology behind electric vehicle chargers has only continued to advance. With new developments being introduced left, right and centre. In this spirit of innovation, we’ve been working behind the scenes to create our new, upgraded, home-charging solution: The QUBEV Smart. Now with even more power, better functionality, and solar compatibility (app dependent), with the same focus on affordability and compact design. The UK Government’s introduction of Part S regulations for EV charging infrastructure means a sleek, modern, and fully compliant charging solution was sorely needed within the industry. The QUBEV Smart includes all of the features our customers loved from the QUBEV, including a universal charging socket, built-in LED charging indicator and adjustable charging rating. As well as a host of new additions. Need charge in a pinch? The QUBEV Smart’s power output has now been expanded to include both a 7.4kW and a huge 22kW offering (available as both tethered and untethered models). Giving you access to even more power at your fingertips. Unique to the QUBEV Smart is it's free Smart Wi-Fi app. Opening up a range of opportunities for you to engage with your EV charger. Such as, scheduling charges to power up your vehicle during off-peak hours (utilising the most cost-effective tariffs), viewing your charging status and monitoring your unit's electricity usage. As well as a whole host of other charge-management features. All in one easy-to-use, responsive app. The QUBEV Smart is also compatible with all PEVs and EVs on the market currently, so charging can be as simple as plug and go. We wanted the QUBEV Smart to be as accessible as possible, as such, it is also fully OCPP 1.6 compliant via ethernet connection. So it can be used with which ever compatible back-office software best suits your needs (such as Rolec’s VendElectric and other trusted third-party partners like Monta). And we haven’t just thought about software, QUBEV Smart’s dynamic load balancing feature enables the unit with the technology to balance electrical usage and protect your property’s fuse, without disrupting your electrical supply. This unit has been created and installed in compliance with regulations highlighted in BS EN IEC 61851-1 as well as the latest UK Smart Charge Points Regulations, including security logs and alerts. Encased in an IP65 weatherproof rated, durable ABS and Polycarbonate enclosure, withstanding temperatures of as low as -25 degrees Celsius and up to a maximum of 50 degrees Celsius. Making it the optimal choice for housing developers looking to fulfil government requirements for an electric vehicle charge point that will be both durable and affordable. As well as being easy to install and maintain thanks to our incredible team of partnered installers and knowledgeable technical team. • Introducing the new EV OpenCharge range

Introducing the new EV OpenCharge range NEWS EV Charging Introducing the new EV OpenCharge range 6 January 2026 at 12:50:07 Rolec launches an entire OCPP compliant chargepoint range, offering total flexibility and complete integration for chargepoint operators and electric vehicle divers. Here’s what you need to know… What is OCPP? OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) is simply a language that allows compliant EV charging points and back office management systems to communicate seamlessly with one another. OCPP is a popular, worldwide industry-wide standard, allowing interoperability between EV charging points, back office management systems and electric vehicles. The NEW EV OpenCharge Range Rolec’s EV OpenCharge range is a selection of smart electric vehicle charging points, suitable for all locations, whether that be for fleet requirements, workplaces, public car parks and more. The range is complete with both AC Fast and DC Rapid EV chargers, providing a future-proof charging solution to meet the current demand for electric vehicles and charging infrastructure. As standard, the chargepoints are equipped with Rolec’s back office management platform, EV Charge Online, however, businesses and organisations are able to choose their own software provider due to the range’s OCPP compatibility. Chargepoint operators are able to offer both pay-to-charge (operated via mobile phone) and authorise-to-charge (operated via RFID card/fob) options to their employees and visitors, whilst gaining the ability to generate additional revenue from chargepoint usage transactions. The flexible pricing model feature enables chargepoint operators to implement charging prices suited to their business requirements, providing them with capabilities to change tariffs as and when required. For businesses and organisations, the EV OpenCharge range introduces significant benefits, particularly with the chargepoint management dashboard as they are able to understand and digest historical, real time and analytical data. Remote over the air firmware updates also creates substantial cost savings and time, allowing seamless upgrades without the need for engineers to visit business premises. • Rolec provide smart metered hook-up solutions to Nant Newydd Caravan Park

Rolec provide smart metered hook-up solutions to Nant Newydd Caravan Park NEWS Caravan Hook-Ups Rolec provide smart metered hook-up solutions to Nant Newydd Caravan Park 6 January 2026 at 12:50:07 Situated on the east side of the Isle of Anglesey, Nant Newydd Caravan Park opted for Rolec’s smart card metered caravan hook-up solutions to ensure their destination is equipped with a solution that best meets their requirements and the needs of their customers. To complete the project, Rolec worked closely with S J Ward Electrical to provide water and power facilities by providing sixty-one QUANTUM illuminated touring pedestals and fifteen post-mounted hook-up connection units. Like all Rolec’s metered systems, the smart card units used in this project are CE compliant and MID Class 1 approved so guarantee billing accuracy which, with today’s soaring energy prices, is reassuring for end users who can be confident they are only paying for the electricity they are consuming. Meanwhile, site owners will have peace of mind knowing that they are only supplying energy which has been paid for. Smart card meters are a cost-effective and reliable way of managing caravan/holiday park’s electric supplies. The package includes smart cards, a card reader/writer, and the Windows™ software required to access the cards and view transactions. The software is simple and easy to use and enables the essential functionality of setting the rate to be paid by holidaymakers for the electricity they will use. When selling electricity, just enter the amount of credit required, transfer it to the card and the holidaymaker can be on their way. At the meter they only need to insert the card and the credit will automatically transfer and power will be made available. After a successful design and installation, Nant Newydd Caravan Park found a requirement for a further nine of the modern and stylish QUANTUM touring pedestals which will enable them to cater for even more visitors in the future. • OZEV Grant Funding for Plug-in Taxis

OZEV Grant Funding for Plug-in Taxis BLOG EV Charging OZEV Grant Funding for Plug-in Taxis 6 January 2026 at 12:50:07 What is the Plug-in Taxi Grant? Large-scale adoption of low-emission vehicles is set to pave the way for a greener, cleaner future, but, as beneficial as these vehicles are globally, they have a reputation for having a slightly higher price tag. The key to successful and widespread EV adoption is removing as many of these roadblocks as possible. Which brings us to the UK government’s next initiative; the Plug-in Taxi Grant. Aiming to tackle every area of urban transportation, this grant is targeted towards private-hire vehicles, or more plainly, taxis. The Plug-in Taxi Grant (PiTG) has been introduced to support the uptake of purpose-built ULEV taxis by narrowing the cost discrepancies between old-style combustion engine vehicles and their traditionally more expensive ultra-low emission counterparts. How much funding is available? Unlike other similar grants, the Plug-in Taxi Grant (PiTG) is applied to eligible vehicles before purchase. Depending on the range, emissions and design of the vehicle, the government will subsidise up to £6000 of the cost to purchase. As the grant is automatically applied for buyers, the responsibility for applying for the grant belongs to the vehicle manufacturer, who must provide proof that the vehicle meets the sustainability requirements outlined by the government. Full details of the application process can be found on the government website. Depending on these results, eligible taxis are allocated into 1 or 2 categories based on their carbon emissions and zero-emission range. Category 1 PiTG: ● Up to £6000 ● A zero-emission range of 70 miles or more and emissions of less than 50gCO2/km Category 2 PiTG: ● Up to £3000 ● A zero-emission range of 10 to 69 miles and emissions of less than 50gCO2/km Conditions of the Grant The PiTG is only available for the purchase of new taxis, therefore second hand and newly converted taxis will not be eligible. Alongside requirements for carbon-emissions and range, vehicles also need to meet accessibility provisions, e.g. it must be wheelchair accessible. A full list of eligible vehicles can be found here . For more information regarding the PiTG and eligibility, please visit: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/plug-in-taxi-grants-eligibility-and-applications Contact us to learn more about how we can support EV fleet taxis.
