  • Lock, Dock and 2-Way Charging; Rolec Carries Out Flood Repairs and EV Install for Leicestershire Marina

CASE STUDY Lock, Dock and 2-Way Charging; Rolec Carries Out Flood Repairs and EV Install for Leicestershire Marina PILLINGS LOCK MARINA Located in the heart of Leicestershire, Pillings Lock Marina has become a hub for explorers, offering the perfect balance of an idyllic countryside setting with quick and easy access to three nearby bustling cities. It encourages people to utilise Britain’s inland canal networks by providing a welcoming centre with on-site moorings and a waterside restaurant, fostering a sense of community among visitors. SCOPE Last year’s unprecedented flooding in the surrounding area caused significant damage to Pillings Lock Marina’s docking services, creating an urgent need for repairs or replacements. Having used Rolec for their previous services, the team at the marina reached out to us to facilitate the repairs and handle installation of new hardware. The team was looking for a cost-effective solution that would still provide users with the highest quality, weatherproof services, with upgrades to site accessibility and visibility. Furthermore, they wanted to include electric vehicle charging facilities for visitors, making the site more attractive to eco-conscious drivers while also providing a charging option for locals visiting the restaurant – all while maintaining a cohesive site aesthetic. SOLUTION Our Rolec installation team fitted Pillings Lock Marina with 29 x 4-way Classic Service pedestals to get their services back up and fully operational. All units included built-in LED lighting paired with an additional 8 lighting pedestals to help meet their need for accessibility by providing visibility along the dock for boats moored on-site, as well as IP44 rated sockets, made to meet many outdoor weather conditions. All service pedestals were fitted with SmartCard metering, giving the team at Pillings Lock Marina more flexibility in managing site electricity and water usage, while allowing visitors to manage their utilities independently and with full transparency. Additionally, Rolec supplied the site with 6 Classic SOS pedestals so that customers mooring had the security of knowing all emergency equipment is available to them if ever the need arises. Visitor EV charging was managed through the installation of a dual-socketed 7.4kW Rolec BasicCharge pedestal, to provide overnight charging to guests and visitors. Which is once again fitted with built-in LED lighting, for increased accessibility. BENEFIT Thanks to the hardware supplied by Rolec, the team at Pillings Lock Marina were able to reinstate the electrical and SOS services, getting them up and running for the marina’s much-anticipated reopening. With SmartCard metering, visitors now have more flexibility over electricity and water, while the site benefits from real-time usage and pricing reports. By adding pay-to-charge EV charging, they will generate passive revenue and attract more electric vehicle drivers looking to rest, recharge, and refuel – boosting visitor dwell time and overall business. • 1620KW of charging Infrastructure Provided for First York.

1620KW of charging Infrastructure Provided for First York. NEWS EV Charging 1620KW of charging Infrastructure Provided for First York. 12 December 2023 at 11:07:53 After announcing their electrification plans earlier this year, First York joined hands with leading EV charging solutions manufacturer, Rolec EV to ensure that the charging needs of their new electric buses were fulfilled. First York are not only the biggest bus operator in York, they are also operators of one of the largest fleets of double deck electric buses (outside of London), thus steering towards the right direction in reducing carbon emissions whilst improving air quality. In order to power the new additions to the fleet, Rolec EV’s 10 years of excellence in electric vehicle charging became the first point of call to accommodate their current and future electric buses. Rolec EV have collectively provided 1,620KW of power via 70+ charging points, including a combination of 22KW AC Type 2 charging sockets and an 80KW dual outlet DC Ultra-Fast Rapid Charger. Having this infrastructure in place allows up to 72 electric bus drivers to park and charge their vehicles overnight in unison before carrying out their journeys the following day. First York has also benefited from Rolec EV’s bespoke back-office communications service, which supplies the bus operators with smart charging capabilities of managing charging activity, history, vehicle migration and more. This particular fixture, FleetSmart, delivers analytical reports to First York headquarters, enabling bus operators to evaluate charging behaviour across their electric fleet. The government’s Net Zero initiative, reaching zero carbon emissions by 2050 is now well underway with various industries opting to future-proof their fleets. The partnership between Rolec EV and First York has come at a time where the electric vehicle industry is experiencing exceptional growth, especially for establishments who are keen to enhance their environmental efforts. Whilst this becomes a commonality amongst the vast majority, Rolec EV continues to be the focal point of discussion when it comes to providing EV charging solutions for a range of organisations. Frankie Mellon, EV Sales Manager at Rolec EV said: “We at Rolec EV are delighted to have formed a partnership with York’s largest bus operator, First York. Our bespoke EV charging solutions have always generated great feedback and this project is another addition to our portfolio, accompanying DPD, UPS, Battersea Power Station, Anglian Water and more. The installation of the AutoCharge and UFC units supply a robust and future-proof solution, allowing First York to add more electric buses to their current fleet of twenty-one in the future with their electrification plans. We are now in a society where the general public are determined to reduce their environmental impact, the transition to an electric fleet is a great move from First York to encourage passengers to better their carbon footprint and we at Rolec EV are proud to be part of that journey. We are also looking forward to the next stage of developments with First York where our back-office communications will enable bus operators to understand further insights regarding their fleet, for example the scheduled routes of the buses and whether they can complete the journey based on their current battery state, enabling the back-office system to redirect power to a vehicle that requires charging. This fully integrated solution will provide bus operators of First York with ease of mind when it comes to monitoring the whereabouts and charging requirements of their fleet.” For more information on EV Charging , click the link or visit: www.rolecserv.com/ev-charging PREVIOUS NEXT Related Posts MG on the Road to Net-Zero in Enhanced Partnership with Rolec EV. • Wattif Provides Funded Rolec EV Chargepoint Solutions to Mullingar Golf Club

CASE STUDY Wattif Provides Funded Rolec EV Chargepoint Solutions to Mullingar Golf Club MULLINGAR GOLF CLUB Mullingar Golf Club is located at Belvedere, Ireland, 5km south of the town centre and just off the main N52 (Nenagh – Dundalk) route, 80km west of Dublin along the M4/N4. The course layout is the work of famous Scottish golf course designer and 5 times Open Champion James Braid (1870 – 1950). Although some changes have been made since its creation in 1935, Mullingar is essentially as its designer intended, a championship challenge set in a mature wooded parkland that was once part of the Belvedere Estate. The course runs to 6,685 yards with a classic par 72 balance of 10 par 4s, 4 par 5s and 4 par 3s. Its routing is player friendly, returning to the club house at 3, and 9. All four par 3s are feature holes, but the 209 yard second is the signature hole, with its elevated tee and green it is considered one of the best par 3s in Irish golf. SCOPE The Golf Club is situated lakeside in Mullingar, Westmeath and offers golfers and visitors a World Class golf venue. With the increase in electric vehicles adoption, and members and visitors wanting EV charging whilst playing golf or using the Club’s facilities, the Club looked to install EV chargers to meet the growing request and demand for EV charging. With a car park capable of accommodating 150+ vehicles, The Club reached out to Wattif EV to provide initial charging of 4 car park bays with a build out programme to match EV charging demand over a multi-year period. The current site’s electrical capacity required a solution that offered charging load management, and local lighting at the charger location was of high importance to the client for a safe charging experience. SOLUTION A joint venture for a multi-year managed services EV charging infrastructure comprising design, installation, commissioning, service and maintenance was agreed, with 24/7 user helpline and load management services. Wattif EV would manage the tariff and pricing, as well as user registration, for both mobile App and RFID transactions. Wattif EV would manage the life cycle of the assets from design to future build out. The Rolec EV Quantum 22kW dual pedestals were selected for quality, performance, and aesthetics. The installation with civils took two weeks from initial site access to commissioning and staff/public charging, with civil and electrical installation performed by Ascent Energy Services. The installation took place whilst the Club remained open to members and guests, with civils and electrical connections being made whilst the Club operated, and with barriers/access managed around the operating Club’s needs. BENEFIT Wattif EV provided the Club with access to 4 Rolec EV charging sockets, and a services programme to operate, manage and maintain these chargers with a further roll-out programme to meet the increasing demand of EV charging. The back-end solution provides load management as well as demand reporting and operation features including tariff and user management, and the 24/7 support for users – allowing Mullingar Golf Club to concentrate and do what they do best – providing a World Class golfing experience and to all their members and visitors.
