  • Welcome to The Future of Sustainable EV Charging

BLOG EV Charging Welcome to The Future of Sustainable EV Charging Chloe Sharp 12 December 2023 at 15:50:00 Virtual SolarCharge Monta has added solar charging to their repertoire. Introducing their new Virtual SolarCharge feature later this year. In a mission to make EV even more sustainable, you can now charge your electric vehicle completely using the sun. Meaning that you can not only power your travels with self-generated, renewable energy. You can also take full advantage of the cost savings that come with grid independence. Easy to use without the need to retrofit hardware, Virtual SolarCharge is available for free to all Monta users with a Rolec charge point through the app. It takes only 5 minutes to set up and can be done by anyone, so no need to call out an engineer - just login to the app and set it up whilst you sip a cup of tea. To activate this feature you simply need to enter the details of your solar array and Monta’s adaptive algorithm uses real-time weather data to accurately predict how much energy will be generated by your solar panels and allocate this energy to powering up your EV. Compatible with all solar panel hardware and a large variety of charging hardware. Including our full range of home charge and commercial charging solutions. Learn even more about Monta’s Virtual SolarCharge over here . PowerBank Supporting a healthy energy ecosystem means maintaining a balance between conscious electricity usage and an evenly weighted distribution system. Essentially, ensuring there is enough electricity to go around. Which is where Monta’s PowerBank comes into focus. Engineered to monitor imbalances in the grid’s supply of electricity, PowerBank employs an adaptive approach to EV charging. Momentarily pausing your charge in response to grid fluctuation. Doing their part to help distribute stress on the grid, Monta’s PowerBank works to mitigate the risk of frequent blackouts and power-outages. Although this feature has a large impact on grid stability, it will only have a minimal impact on your individual charge. And this feature is not just free to use, you actually earn money when using it. Empowering smart grid usage by rewarding you with Monta credit for every kWh you use. Which can, in turn, be used to cover the cost of subscriptions or used to fund charging within Monta’s expansive roaming network. Meaning, for the first time ever, your smart energy choices at home can power your journeys nationwide. You can sign up for PowerBank on the Monta app. Click here for a detailed guide. • Rolec supports Willmott Dixon’s fleet electrification plans

NEWS EV Charging Rolec supports Willmott Dixon’s fleet electrification plans 12 December 2023 at 11:07:35 Over 100 of Willmott Dixon’s sites will be future-proof with the roll out of charging infrastructure for electric company cars. Willmott Dixon’s pledge to become a zero-carbon company by 2030, without offsetting, has seen it announce a roll-out of electric vehicle charge points across all its sites and offices. Rolec has been chosen as Willmott Dixon’s chargepoint partner to deliver electric vehicle charging solutions across over 100 of Willmott Dixon’s sites and offices in England and Wales. The deployment of charging infrastructure at Willmott Dixon’s sites will ensure that its nearly 300 electric vehicle driving employees are able to recharge their EVs whilst on-site. In the latest initiative under it’s Now or Never sustainability strategy, Willmott Dixon expects the move will have a big impact on its annual carbon footprint by reducing emissions by nearly 1 million kgCo2e*, with the shift away from petrol and diesel fuel also leading to savings of £360k in fuel reimbursement. It is also intended to support more people transitioning to electric vehicles. Jake Hudson, Fleet Business Development Manager at Rolec added: “It is great to be able to assist with the provision of electric vehicle charge points for all of Willmott Dixon’s sites, sharing the vision of their 2030 ‘Now or Never’ sustainability strategy to deliver a greener future.” Julia Barrett, Chief Sustainability Officer, explains: “Through our 2030 ‘Now or Never’ sustainability strategy, launched last autumn, we have set ourselves some of the toughest science-based targets in the industry, as we pledge to have no direct emissions from our day-to-day operations by eliminating fossil fuel use in our offices and on our sites. “In order to achieve this objective, it is critical that we move to a 100% electric vehicle fleet, which will only be viable if we are able to provide our people with the relevant equipment to make this step change possible. “In January, we launched a new vehicle scheme, encouraging our people to consider electric vehicles and we have already seen several hundred applications. Now we are committing to installing electric vehicle charging points at our sites and offices, creating the infrastructure to support this change. “Since 2019, all of our offices and sites have been powered by certified, natural renewable electricity. We are also encouraging our people to consider making the same change at home, having recently led an internal campaign for Earth Day during April. By combining renewable electricity powered charging points with electric vehicles, we are proud to be able to provide a truly sustainable vehicle solution for all of our people.” Read more via: https://www.willmottdixon.co.uk/news/willmott-dixon-to-provide-electric-vehicle-charging-points-at-over-100-sites PREVIOUS NEXT Related Posts Mercedes-Benz South West and Rolec partnership supports the acceleration of EV adoption in the UK Supporting Your Transition to a Zero Emissions Fleet 1620KW of charging Infrastructure Provided for First York.

  • New Building Regulations Set to Make EV Chargers a Part of the Furniture

NEWS EV Charging New Building Regulations Set to Make EV Chargers a Part of the Furniture Chloe Sharp 16 February 2023 at 09:21:25 Why is the government introducing these regulations? It is not new to suggest that more needs to be done to tackle the current climate emergency. The push for rapid decarbonisation can be felt throughout the UK and expands far into the world. Something that many national leaders are trying to tackle through the execution of legislative and regulatory changes. One of the newest to be implemented in the UK being the Part S regulation. This new regulation specifically aims to tackle the problem of electric vehicle infrastructure we currently have in the UK. Highlighted as one of the greatest problems facing the adoption of electric vehicles, many people have stated increased range anxiety and the inaccessibility of EV charge points as one of their main deterrents against taking the plunge into emission-free transport. What does this mean for residential property developers? To ease some of these fears, the Part S regulation makes it mandatory for all new build properties to provide an electric vehicle (EV) charge point for potential residents. It also applies to residential properties undergoing major renovations (that will have more than 10 parking spaces upon completion). Tasking developers to deliver at least one EV charge point per residence as well as the supporting infrastructure to sustain the installation of future charge points . Installing cable routes to all remaining spaces. In terms of how successful this is in achieving its aims, it is definitely set to increase the accessibility of EV chargers domestically. And measures have been taken to future-proof these developments via cable installation. Hopefully encouraging an uptake in purchases of new electric vehicles. But, since 80% of EV owners already charge their cars at home over night, what does this mean for the day? Regulations for new non-residential properties. This brings us to the provisions for non-residential buildings . Like those above, if the building is set to have more than 10 parking spaces , one space must have access to an EV charge point . Cable routes also need to be installed in a minimum of 20% of remaining spaces . If the parking spaces are in a covered garage, consider uncovered spaces first or (if all are covered) cable routes must be installed in 1/5 of spaces. In terms of buildings undergoing renovations, cost of installing charge points and cable routes should not equal more than 7% of the cost of the total renovation . The addition of this provision is promising as it sets in motion the groundwork for expansion. As well as aiming to tackle the problem faced by many current and prospective EV drivers, of the public lack of infrastructure. Whether this is enough to convince people to make the switch is yet to be seen but hopefully by dipping their toes into the world of EV charging, businesses will be encouraged to join the pledge for a greener future.
