In collaboration with EVC South West (one of Rolec’s approved installers), Rolec are now deploying electric vehicle charging infrastructure across Mercedes-Benz South West’s showrooms, LCV centres and service stations, ensuring that their electric and hybrid vehicles are recharged, ready for the best user experience. Locations that will benefit from Rolec’s charging points include: Exeter, Plymouth, Taunton and Truro. As electric vehicles are becoming a part of the norm and drivers are contemplating the switch to electric, Mercedes-Benz South West are also ensuring that prospective EV drivers are provided with confidence when making the decision to switch. By implementing a dedicated ‘EV area’ combined with the introduction of EV experts, future electric vehicle drivers will leave Mercedes-Benz South West locations with greater knowledge of the benefits and intricacies of electrifying with their next vehicle change. The type of connector you need to charge your electric vehicle depends on the type of vehicle you are driving, as well as the speed of charging. All plug-in hybrid and full Electric vehicles have a Type 1 or Type 2 socket for fast charging, suitable for charging at home and workplaces. Full electric vehicle also house a CHAdeMO or CCS connection for DC rapid charging whilst on the go. You will notice that most electric vehicle charging points have a Type 2 socket and sometimes they have a cable attached to the charging point too (tethered charging point), however most electric vehicle drivers purchase a portable EV charging cable so that they are able to recharge their vehicle at any socketed electric vehicle charging point. We are aware that the Government has decided that some of the present restrictions will be lifted after the 19th of July 2021. However, it is for the individual businesses to follow their own policy and continue with safe practices to protect all their employees and visitors to the business. We have therefore decided that we will continue to use face covers in busy areas and when moving around the offices and factory facilities, continue to follow social distancing best practice and maintain sanitising stations throughout the site.
